CHANGING THE EXTERNAL INSTEAD OF THE INTERNAL - WHY ITS NOT WORKING FOR YOU

Have you ever wondered why, when you are working towards something you want to achieve, that it’s always much easier to have something/someone steer you off course or knock you back into old patterns?

I’ll tell you what is

happening here.

When we focus on DOING something different we are often taking our attention away from BEING someone different at the core

What’s the difference you ask? And why is BEING someone different so important?

How many times have you gone on a health kick, tried to lose weight or changed your physical body with the deeper yearning to be more confident, to see yourself more worthy, to feel like you can then wear certain clothes or be loved by another?

How many times have you achieved your goal (or close to it) but you STILL don’t feel confident or worthy or that you can wear certain things or be loved by someone else?

How many times have you repeated yourself…. Working to achieve the same things over and over again?

We are ignoring the DEEPER issues here. The issue is WHY you don’t feel confident in the first place. Why you don’t feel worthy. The problem is you have neglected to get to the root of why you feel this way and instead you’re seeking external validation or proof.

When we attach WHO we are with things outside of us, we are simply working to treat the symptom. Like going to the doctor for a headache and taking painkillers instead of addressing the late nights working at a poorly positioned computer screen and the severe lack of hydration.

Like deciding to drink protein shakes to grow muscle but you don’t step foot in a gym or pick up a dumbbell.

Once you stop taking the painkillers because you feel “better” but you haven't addressed or changed the ACTUAL problem, the pain is just going to come back.

I read a great post by an amazing leader in personal development Mastin Kipp who said

“Don’t get me wrong, meds save lives and can be useful, but prescription medication won’t do your trauma work for you.

I am still on prescription meds to this day, they supplement my mental health but, they don’t resolve my trauma.

You cant fix a chronic problem with an acute solution.”

Our behavior is driven by how we feel and how we think, and how we think is driven our beliefs and filters of the world.

If you have a belief that you are not worthy of love and you think that it’s because you look a certain way, you will feel shitty in your body and behave in alignment with needing to change it.

(Read this part slowly 2x) If you show up changing your behavior but your thoughts and feelings about yourself dont change and your belief you are not worthy of love stands true, it wont matter what you DO you will still not receive what you truly want.

So the key to change….

Don’t just change what you are doing, change the wiring of your mind so that you can think, feel and believe differently in alignment with what you want NOW.  Like an iceberg, what you see isn’t the problem, it is what is underneath the surface.

Changing our behavior in a bid to feel, think and believe differently later is simply putting your shoes on before your socks. It’s backwards.
